Course Objectives
• Learn photography fundamentals and techniques, while developing skills in observing, interpreting, and documenting Jerusalem’s architectural and heritage details through photography.
• Understand the concept of visual documentation and its importance in preserving heritage and collective memory.
• Explore the history of “carpet tiles” in Jerusalem and Palestine and their role in local architectural identity. • Learn about the history of the Al-Ma’mal Foundation building as the site of Palestine’s first carpet tile factory.
• Produce a photography project documenting examples of carpet tiles in Jerusalem from the participants’ perspectives.
• Raise awareness regarding the importance of preserving cultural heritage through the visual arts.
