Z.A., from East Jerusalem

This testimony describes the horrific treatment of a Palestinian man who was arrested on 12 October 2023. The man was abducted by armed individuals, who later identified themselves as part of an Israeli police unit. He was subjected to physical abuse, humiliation, and severe deprivation, including being shackled, denied food and water, beaten, and kept in poor sanitary conditions for months. The man was held in administrative detention without charge and suffered ongoing mistreatment, including being denied medical care, contact with the outside world, and basic human dignity. His treatment worsened after the 7 October 2023 escalation, with increased restrictions on prayer, hygiene, and food. He was released on 30 March 2024 after a prolonged and brutal detention.
