Trump vs A Global Consensus
Currently, no country in the world maintains an embassy in Jerusalem. Acknowledging Jerusalem as Israel’s capital is widely viewed as legitimizing Israel’s unlawful annexation of parts of the city. In direct violation of international law, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States would recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and committed to relocating the U.S. embassy there.
