Strict movement restrictions in East Jerusalem are prohibited collective punishment of Palestinians

Since October 14, 2015, Israeli security forces in Jerusalem have implemented a closure policy involving the installation of numerous checkpoints and concrete roadblocks in East Jerusalem, significantly restricting Palestinian movement. The policy includes 21 roadblocks, 14 staffed checkpoints, and random inspections, creating severe traffic jams and delays, affecting daily routines, education, and employment for over 300,000 Palestinians. These measures are viewed as collective punishment, violating international law and exacerbating the already difficult living conditions of Palestinians in East Jerusalem.
