Israeli Border Police officers attacked a family at home in Silwan and arrested the father
On August 9, 2024, Zuheir a-Rajabi, a resident of Batan al-Hawa in Silwan, East Jerusalem, was assaulted and arrested by Border Police while trying to defuse a situation involving local children. After initially discussing the matter with an officer, a large police presence arrived, leading to a violent confrontation when Zuheir's sons filmed the incident. Officers used physical force, threw a chair at one son, and fired rubber bullets. Zuheir was arrested for allegedly interfering with police work, and officers searched the home, damaging furniture and confiscating property. After his release, he sought medical treatment for injuries sustained during the incident, which reflects ongoing violence and harassment faced by residents in the area amid escalating tensions from nearby settler activities.
