Collective punishment in Jabal al-Mukabber: Jerusalem Municipality served some 40 demolition orders

On January 8, 2017, Fadi al-Qunbar carried out a vehicle-ramming attack in Jerusalem, killing four Israeli soldiers and injuring 13 others. In response, Israeli authorities imposed collective punishment on his extended family and other local residents in Jabal al-Mukabber. This included demolishing homes, issuing demolition orders for others, and restricting movement in the neighborhood. The al-Qunbar family was also threatened with the revocation of their residency status. These actions, which target individuals not involved in the attack, reflect a broader policy of punitive measures against Palestinian neighborhoods in East Jerusalem.
