A Stranglehold on Sheikh Jarrah – New Tools for Israeli Takeover and Palestinian Displacement

For decades, state-backed settler groups have sought to take control of large parts of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood. Located to the north of the Old City and bordering West Jerusalem, this Palestinian neighborhood occupies a strategic position, making it a prime target for settler activities and efforts aimed at displacing its residents and Israelizing the space. Since the 1970s, dozens of families have faced eviction by settler groups under discriminatory laws that allow Jews to reclaim properties from before 1948, while denying Palestinians the same right.
