Girls Attend UNRWA School in Shu‘fat Refugee Camp

This 1980s photo captures the lives of Palestinian refugee children in the Shu‘fat refugee camp, East Jerusalem. Established by UNRWA in 1965 to house families displaced during the Nakba, the camp became the only Palestinian refugee camp within Israeli-annexed East Jerusalem after 1967. UNRWA provides basic services, including schools offering free primary education.
