AirBnB & Israeli Abuses
Between March and July 2018, Human Rights Watch and Kerem Navot identified at least 139 Airbnb listings located in 61 Israeli settlements across the West Bank, excluding East Jerusalem. These listings are inherently discriminatory, as Palestinians holding West Bank IDs are effectively prohibited from entering settlements, while Israeli citizens and international visitors face no such restrictions. Moreover, these settlements are considered illegal under international law. On November 19, 2018, just before the release of a major Human Rights Watch report featuring these findings, Airbnb announced it would remove all listings within Israeli settlements. This decision marked a significant outcome of years of research and advocacy by human rights organizations, who continue to track Airbnb’s implementation of this policy.
