This Christmas, the Old City of Jerusalem stands eerily quiet as Palestinians in Gaza mourn the ongoing violence. With few visitors and businesses struggling, the usual holiday cheer is absent. A sharp decline in Christian pilgrimages, due to Israeli permit restrictions and the conflict, has left the Christian Quarter almost deserted. For the second consecutive year, celebrations are muted, casting a somber shadow over this once-bustling holy city.
