From Wasteland to Eden: Environmental Territoriality and the Remaking of the Political Ecology of East Jerusalem
This article examines how environmental discourses are used to support settler colonialism in East Jerusalem, particularly in the Wadi al-Rababa neighborhood and Hinnom Valley. It explores how Israeli state and settler organizations reframe these areas through biblical narratives to assert Jewish claims to land and erase Palestinian sovereignty. The article also highlights the role of settler political ecologies in racializing the environment, creating temporal and territorial distinctions that undermine Palestinian rights.
