I Am Zlatan” is a coming-of-age story depicting the upbringing of Zlatan Ibrahimović in a tough Swedish suburb. Born to immigrant parents from the Balkans, football became his escape as his exceptional talent and self-reliance, despite all odds, led him to the pinnacle of international football.

He has played for clubs like Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester United.

The film offers a poignant and detailed look at his family life, his relationship with Rosengård, the suburb he still calls home in Malmö. It shows his first big journey from the suburb on his bicycle to central Malmö, and later, to the rest of the world. He navigates his environment with the motto: “Listen, but don’t listen” — accepting good advice without losing his personal essence.
