Isolated: Israel cuts village of Beit Iksa off from East Jerusalem and the rest of the West Bank

Beit Iksa, a Palestinian village northwest of Jerusalem, is heavily affected by Israeli-imposed movement restrictions. Although it lies within the West Bank, the village is isolated due to a permanent checkpoint controlling the only entrance and an electronic fence along its northwest side. Israeli authorities have restricted access to the village, requiring special permits for entry, which disrupts daily life, social ties, and access to services. The restrictions have forced some families to leave due to isolation from Jerusalem, making it difficult for businesses, workers, and service providers to enter. The situation has severely impacted the village’s residents, including education, healthcare, and family life, and reflects broader efforts to control movement and limit Palestinian access to Jerusalem.
