Fakhri Abu Diab’s Rebuilt Home

Fakhri Abu Diab’s Rebuilt Home

International visitors recently met Fakhri Abu Diab and his wife in Silwan, Jerusalem, to learn about their experience following the demolition of their home on February 14, 2024. This area, targeted for Israeli settlement expansion and archaeological tourism, faces severe housing shortages due to restrictive permit policies—only 1-3% of Palestinian applications are approved. Fakhri is required to pay $27,000 for the demolition of his home. While a new home has been built with support, his family remains traumatized and hesitant to return. Despite the challenges, Fakhri is committed to advocating for Palestinians in Silwan.
