SUMMARY:Talk: Hydraulic Imaginaries
DESCRIPTION:Talk: Hydraulic Imaginaries\nArtist: Benji Boyadgian\nDate: Wednesday 5.3.2025 at 19:30\nLanguage: English \nAs part of the series of talks on early 20th century ornamental tiles\, artist Benji Boyadgian will revisit his exhibition\, the Discord\, which took place at Al-Ma’mal Foundation for Contemporary Arts in 2017. In the talk he will expand on the ideas that informed this work and discuss his research process in order to give a glimpse of the underlying politics beneath it. The presentation will also delve into the history of these tiles\, how their images came about\, and their mode of production. Through an exploration of how these tiles arrived on the shores of Palestine to later become a symbol of Palestinian identity\, the presentation will reflect on the notion of heritage and its relationship with national identity\, while taking into consideration the impact of technologies on our imaginary
